Floor 2
Floor 1
Second courtyard: external ventilation shafts, wind & bikes
Room: G01 - IT cluster Date: 27/04/18 Period: 16:43-17:27 Duration: 44min Weather condition: Light rain Equipment: NTi Audio XL2 Sound Level Meter Occupation level: Moderate NR: 54 (Guide A 35-45) LAFmax: 75.6dB LAFmin: 51.6dB LAeq: 53.2dB (Guide A 40-50) LCeq: 60.0dB (Guide A 65-75)
A computer cluster able to accomadate up to 14 students. Acoustic levels are low in the lower frequency spectrum but rise above guidelines for the higher range. Outdoor noise is not an issue thanks to the secondary glazing of the two windows. Noise mainly comes from the reception corridor when the door to the cluster is open. Annoying sources of noise include the slamming of the door and constant tapping on the computer keyboards.

202
Key information
Room: 202 - Open plan office Date: 27/04/18 Period: 9:58-10:48 Duration: 50min Weather condition: Moderate rain Equipment: NTi Audio XL2 Sound Level Meter Occupation level: Moderate-high NR: 54 (Guide A 35) LAFmax: 74.8dB LAFmin: 51.1dB LAeq: 53.1dB (Guide A 35) LCeq: 58.1dB (Guide A 60)
An open-plan office for PhD. Two windows facing the courtyard. Raining and windows open during the measurement. Better acoustic performance at lower frequency level. Main sources of noise consist of computer cases, keyboard typing, mouse clicking, occasional people talking in the neighbour seminar room, and the noise from the outside (rain, traffic). Overall noise level higher than the guideline values while the user satisfaction level is still relatively high.

328
Key information
Room: 328 - Small office Date: 27/04/18 Period: 13:53-14:01 Duration: 8min Weather condition: Broken clouds Equipment: NTi Audio XL2 Sound Level Meter Occupation level: Low NR: 45 (Guide A 35) LAFmax: 57.1dB LAFmin: 48.2dB LAeq: 51.5dB (Guide A 35) LCeq: 68.8dB (Guide A 60)
The office in room 328 is occupied by 3 people. Acoustically, the internal environment is very good for working. It looks onto the quiet courtyard, so is minimally affected by the outdoors and the ambient noise levels are so close to white noise that they do not cause distraction. Due to the minimal amount of people in the room, noises made by the occupants are unlikely to be problematic.

102
Key information
Room: 102 - Open plan office Date: 01/05/18 Period: 14:51-15:26 Duration: 35min Weather condition: Broken clouds Equipment: NTi Audio XL2 Sound Level Meter Occupation level: / NR: 60 (Guide A 35) LAFmax: 71.3dB LAFmin: 52.1dB LAeq: 53.8dB (Guide A 35) LCeq: 70.2dB (Guide A 60)
An open-plan office for PhD students. Low occupancy during Term 3. Five windows facing the courtyard. Quiet conversation happening during measurements. Main sources of noise consist of computer cases, keyboard typing, mouse clicking, occasional people talking in the neighbouring 4-occupant office, and the noise from the outside (rain, traffic). Overall noise level higher than the guideline values while the user satisfaction level is still relatively high.

B01
Key information
Room: B01 - lecture theatre Date: 27/04/18 Period: 15:08-06:05 Duration: 47min Weather condition: Light rain Equipment: NTi Audio XL2 Sound Level Meter Occupation level: Not occupied NR: 37 (Guide A 25-35) LAFmax: 66.1dB LAFmin: 66.1dB LAeq: 43.0dB (Guide A 30-40) LCeq: 56.8dB (Guide A 55-65)
B01 is well insulated, therefore isolating it from the atrium and the main road on either side of the room. Background noise levels are low, considering there is both a mechanical and natural ventilation system in the room.
